It is essential to emphasize the positive impact that individuals and/or specific groups make to Girl Scouting because doing so reaffirms the worthwhile contributions they have made. Thinking of Adult RecognitionsAdults participate in Girl Scouting because they believe in the program, not because they seek recognition or reward. However, there are times when a troop/group or Service Unit may want to express appreciation to an individual or group that has been so helpful that special thanks are in order. Adult recognition in Girl Scouting is designed to honor such individuals, organizations, and businesses for promoting Girl Scouting through their excellent commitment and support. Expressions of gratitude may take various forms, some of which include informal, sincere words of thanks, formal acknowledgement at a meeting, greetings made by troop/group girls, and an official award. Whatever method is chosen, it should be fitting for both the giver and the service given. Girl Scouts of the Pioneer Council's adult recognition program reflects:
Honorees for board-approved awards will be recognized at the Girl Scouts of the Pioneer Council Annual Meeting. Recognition OpportunitiesWhether working in partnership with girls or adults, in governance or management, volunteer or employed staff member, long-tenured or short term, anyone can contribute to and benefit from an atmosphere and attitude of appreciation. Anyone who goes above and beyond, who exceeds expectations, whose contributions are significant, whose performance is outstanding, and whose efforts are sincerely focused on making the Girl Scout experience good for girls is someone to appreciate.
