My Girl Scout Experience
I was a Brownie Girl Scout in Michigan, and what I remember most is that it was great to be with my girlfriends and always doing fun stuff when our troop met. Through Girl Scouts, I learned that I could do anything I wanted in life and that even though I was “just a girl,” I could become strong and capable. Our troop did things for the community, too. We organized a carnival, and gave the money we raised to a local cause. I remember our troop selling cookies; Thin Mints are still my favorite. Girl Scouting taught me about teamwork, and it’s a lesson I carry forward into my life today. Girl Scouting taught me how to work together with them to get things done. In my business, I host “Girlfriend Nights,” at the spa, no doubt the product of those happy memories of troop time spent with my friends. Another distinct memory I have is wearing my Brownie uniform in the grocery store and being recognized as a Girl Scout. It was such a source of pride. Even though it was many years ago, I can still recall the fun and the smiles, and the lessons learned.
