Camp Golden Valley

One of the most beautiful Girl Scout camps in the United States

Camp Golden Valley is located in the South Mountains of Rutherford County, North Carolina, off Highway 226 between Shelby and Marion.  The 600-acre site has wooded areas, open spaces and a 15-acre spring-fed lake that is used for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boating.  There are trails to hike and creeks to wade.  There's even a 110-year-old log cabin where girls can learn about the early residents of the area.  An outpost provides a perfect setting for older girls to practice primitive camping skills. Golden Valley also has stables with horses on site.

There are 5 units at Camp Golden Valley:
1 with cabins and a troop house; 2 with treehouses (cabins on stilts); and 2 with large troop houses.  The camp capacity is 124 campers per week, and sessions run from Sunday to Friday.  Camp Golden Valley offers individual camping opportunities for girl’s ages 5-17.  Resident Camp primarily serves Girl Scouts, but non-Girl Scouts are also welcome.

Camp Golden Valley, operated by the Girl Scouts of the Pioneer Council, is accredited by the American Camping Association and adheres to the strict standards of Girl Scouts of the USA regarding safety, administration, programming and property management.
