This year’s theme is
“Going Places” and it is perfect for Girl Scouts.  Girl Scouts love to travel and make a difference wherever we go!

Meet  “Daisy”.  She is our Mascot. Daisy is a really cool pony who loves an adventure. She uses the buddy system and travels with her sidekick “Caramel.”

Daisy will be our “tour guide” as we travel through the 2009 Cookie program. They can’t wait for the adventure!

If you could travel anywhere…
Where would you go?

You can be anything you want…
What will you be?

As a Girl Scout…
How will you make the world a better place?

Daisy says Follow the Cookie Program Rules”:

All Registered Girl Scouts can sell cookies.  Even Girl Scout Daisies! This is the first year that Girl Scout Daisies will be allowed to participate in our cookie program!

You must give your troop/group leader/assistant a signed parent permission slip in order to sell cookies.

SAFETY is ALWAYS job #1! Follow all of the guidelines. Daisy Girl Scouts must have 1 on 1 adult supervision at all times while selling.

Our annual Cookie Sale officially begins on December 29, 2008 and lasts through March 15, 2009. Girl Scouts are on our honor to NOT sell cookies before December 29, 2008 or after March 15, 2009.  Early/late selling could result in girls forfeiting recognitions and not qualifying for Top Seller.

Daisy says Use the Tools”:

Setting goals is important. Girls should determine what they want to use their troop profits for before the program begins. As a group, you should calculate how many boxes of cookies you will need to sell in order to make your goal!

Troops/groups who “Goal Plan” together have great results. Girls can also earn a Goal Getter patch! For every troop/group that made “goal planning on-line” a troop/group activity, the TROOP/GROUP increased almost 20%! Goal Planning is fun and it works!

Set your goals on-line @ www.abcsmartcookies.com

The Cookie Times (in your troop training packet) and the ABC Smart Cookies website both have a variety of tools and activities for Troop/Group Leaders to take advantage of, for the duration of the cookie sale.

The “Cookie Construction Zone” training kit for Service Units has been developed this year for Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors. It is a great tool to help everyone get ready for our program. You can check it out, but reserve in advance. A smaller version of this kit has been added for Girl Scout Daisies.

Note:  This activity is designed for a minimum of 6 Girl Scout Brownie or Junior troops within a Service Unit and takes 3 hours to complete. The Girl Scout Daisy Cookie Construction Zone kit is designed for at least 3 troops and takes 1 1/2 hours to complete. Don’t wait until the last minute to reserve it.

Cookie Costumes are available at the council office for Girl Scouts to use at functions, parades, or cookie shops.  Troop leaders can reserve the costumes through the council office.

Doorknob hangers are also available on-line and on the ABC cookie website.  It’s a great way to let neighbors know when and where your troop will be selling cookies in the area. They’re not just for Walk About.

Daisy says “Earn “cool” Recognitions”:

Each girl who participates in the cookie program will earn a Participation patchAchievement bars will also be available to girls selling over 50 boxes.  Girl Scouts who set goals on-line by the time they turn in their initial order card will earn the Goal Getter patch.

Girls who sell 200 boxes of cookies on their initial orders have the opportunity to earn a 6 inch plush version of Caramel!  Just turn in the initial order card to your troop leader on or before January 16, 2009, with at least 200 boxes on your order to qualify for this recognition.

Girls selling over 300 boxes of cookies begin to earn Cookie Dough$$ and there’s so much you can do with it these days.  You can use at the Council Store, or at Camp Golden Valley, Camp Rotary trading posts or for registrations (camp attendance, membership or council events).

February 28th and March 1st is our Walkabout Weekend.  We encourage girls to take a parent, grandparent or significant adult and walk around your neighborhood and sell cookies.  Girls selling 12 new boxes of cookies during this time will earn a WalkAbout patch. **See Troop/Group cookie coordinator for details on how to earn this cool patch!

Saturday, April 25th slated for the 2009 Cookie Celebrity Event, which is always a ton of fun.  Our star sellers (girls selling 500+ boxes of cookies) will receive an invitation to this awards event.  Invitations will be mailed by April 10th.

What’s NEW for 2008/2009?

Big exciting news!  Girl Scout Daisies may participate in our cookie program this year. They sell the same way all other Girl Scouts sell and can earn Cookie Dough and an invitation to the 2009 Cookie Celebrity party.

3  of our AMAZING cookies are getting a makeover!

Peanut Butter Patties & Peanut Butter Sandwiches are
going back to the original recipe!

Cinna Spins are getting a new shape and a new name:
They will be shaped like daisies and will be called “Daisy Go Rounds” in honor of Girl Scout Daisies joining the cookie program this year.

We thank all the troop/groups, leaders, girls and their families for all YOU do to make this event a success each year.

A VERY special thank you (in advance), goes out to our Service Unit Cookie Coordinators & Service Unit Cookie Cupboards for taking on this huge effort!

Everyday you make a difference to Girls in our area!
