Requirements

Submit the Gold Award Project Proposal to the council six weeks (maximum) or three weeks (minimum) prior to the entry interview.  See the council published interview schedule in this booklet (page 3), in the Program Opportunities book and in the STUDIO 2B Magazine.

Research your project thoroughly prior to the entry interview. This includes making initial contact with any community agency or organization that may be involved in your Gold Award project. Be prepared with all vital information pertaining to your project (i.e. pictures; documentation; any proof statements, etc.), most importantly the feasibility of the project.  Research does not mean you may begin the project.

Practice your interview skills. Ask your leader/advisor to assist in preparing you for the entry interview.

Proper attire for the entry interview is the Girl Scout uniform, as with any interview you dress appropriately for the occasion.

You will be asked to stand and recite the Girl Scout Promise.

You will be assigned a project advisor at the completion of the entry interview.

  • Meet with your project advisor a minimum of three times.
  • Once at the beginning of your project by the 10 hour mark.
  • Once at the mid-way point of your project or the 25 hour mark.
  • Once at the completion of your project for exit review preparation.
  • One meeting must be at the project site if applicable.

Submit your tentative timeline to the council with your application.  Submit your revised timeline, within 30 days after project approval, to your project advisor and the Girl Scouts of the Pioneer Council VP Membership and Program.

Keep a log and all documentation in your notebook, including copies of any correspondence, and make note of phone call(s) received and made.  Take pictures of your project.  Make a CD of your photos in chronological order.  The actual pictures are for your notebook, and the CD is for the Council to prepare for the award ceremony.  If you are taking pictures of any people, use the photo and press release form.

There are to be no revisions to your project unless pre-approved by your project advisor and/or the council VP Membership and Program or designee.

Contact your project advisor if you have any questions. Contact the VP Membership and Program at the council, only if your project advisor is unavailable.

Prepare and submit your final report by the Council published project due dates. (See page 3 of this booklet and the Program Opportunities  book.)

Complete your notebook, using the final checklist and attend the exit review, as scheduled by the Girl Scouts of the Pioneer Council.

Write your thank you notes and acknowledgments in a timely fashion.
