National Science Partnership Patch

The National Science Partnership for Girl Scouts and Science Museums (NSP) seeks to increase opportunities for girl's ages 6-12 to explore the knowledge and processes of science in a hands-on, exploratory, all-girl environment. The NSP builds the confidence and self-esteem of young women through positive experiences with science and technology and promotes their interest in science careers.

The strength of NSP rests in the program's hands-on kits, the training opportunities, and in the partnership between Girl Scout councils and science institutions. The Schiele Museum of Natural History and Girl Scouts of the Pioneer Council have joined together to make this program possible.

Benefits To Girls:

  • ensures an informal, hands-on, non-threatening, all-girl environment to explore science
  • provides science opportunities early in the lives of girls (ages 6-12)
  • connects with community resources in science
  • gives access to experiences that can support the in- school curriculum
  • builds confidence and self-esteem
  • increases exposure to careers and mentors in science
  • builds directly on the existing Girl Scout curriculum
  • fosters interest in science in non-traditional ways
